Leadership in Action: Dr. Jimmy Reyes Earns One of Nursing’s Highest Honors

We are honored to announce that Dr. Jimmy A. Reyes, Executive Director of MyHealthIowa–MiSaludIowa, has been selected for induction into the 2026 Class of Fellows of the American Academy of Nursing (FAAN)—one of the highest and most prestigious distinctions in the nursing profession.


The American Academy of Nursing recognizes nurse leaders whose sustained contributions have advanced health care, influenced policy, strengthened nursing education and practice, and improved health outcomes nationally and around the world. The 2026 Class includes distinguished leaders from 39 states, the District of Columbia, and 17 countries.

This remarkable honor reflects Dr. Reyes’ unwavering commitment to advancing health equity, expanding access to care, and improving the health and well-being of underserved communities throughout Iowa. Through his leadership, MyHealthIowa–MiSaludIowa has grown into a trusted community partner dedicated to reducing barriers to care and creating meaningful, lasting impact.


Dr. Reyes will be formally inducted during the American Academy of Nursing’s Health Policy Conference in Washington, D.C., on October 10, 2026.
